Fellowship

Distinguish yourself professionally through quality continuing education with Fellowship (FAGD) in the AGD. Attaining FAGD culminates with receipt of your award at the AGD convocation ceremony held each year at the AGD annual meeting.

You must complete the following requirements to earn your FAGD Award:

  • Current AGD membership for three continuous years by September 30 of the year of the convocation for which application is made, to begin no earlier than the month of dental school graduation
  • A dental license has not been suspended or revoked within the last five years and is not currently under probation, suspension or revocation
  • Passing the Fellowship Exam
     
  • 500 hours of approved CE. Participation hours earned while working on Fellowship can be applied to Mastership.
  • Attendance at an AGD convocation ceremony, held during an AGD annual meeting, to receive the award (successful candidates are allowed three years following approval to complete this requirement.

Mastership

Achieve the highest Academy of General Dentistry honor – Mastership (MAGD). A professional designation within the AGD beyond Fellowship, MAGD reflects a general dentist's ongoing commitment to provide quality care through continuing education.

Achieving Mastership (MAGD) is a professional designation within the AGD that reflects a general dentist's ongoing commitment to provide quality care through continuing education.

You must complete the following requirements to earn your MAGD Award:

  • Current AGD membership in good standing
  • A dental license has not been suspended or revoked within the last five years, and is not currently under probation, suspension or revocation A Fellowship Award
  • 1,100 hours in approved continuing education
    • At least 400 hours must be earned in participation courses
    • At least 600 hours must be earned in specific disciplines
  • Attendance at an AGD convocation ceremony, held during an AGD annual meeting, to receive the award (successful candidates are allowed three years following approval to complete this requirement).

Participation hours earned during your Fellowship can now be applied to Mastership
